A free comprehensive training programme is on offer to teach you how to ring a church bell!
Course Content
Dates and Times
The rest of the training will be delivered between the 5th and 17th March at the Church of SS Peter & Paul, Newport Pagnell.
During this two week you will be provided a further four training sessions to learn how to ring a bell. The sessions will be available over a number of weekday afternoons and evenings, each session lasting two hours with the training culminating with a 3 hour final session on Saturday 17th March. (again, held in the morning and repeated in the afternoon).
During these sessions as well as being taught how to ring a bell training will be provided on the following:
- How a bell works
- Where and when we ring
- All about bell ropes
- The history of church bell ringing
- Bell Founding
- Ringing Terminology
- Listening to bells
- Ringing and the Church
- Peals & Quarters
- The social side of ringing
During and at the end of the training programme you will be introduced to a conveniently located tower in the North Bucks area where existing bell ringers will provide you with all the further training and support to enable you to become a member of their band and regular bell ringer. All the above training is free and provided by experienced bell ringing tutors, all we ask is that you turn up to the various training sessions offered and complete the course.
